Excerpts

"As my children and I walk through the hollow of trees on the path next to the lake I turn to look at them behind me.  They have each found a long stick and are dragging it behind them creating a trail.  They are laughing and their faces are filled with sunshine.  A ray of light enters my soul and whispers so softly and yet the revelation is so huge. These beautiful children who walk behind me look to me for guidance.  I am their leader, their nurturer their love and their world.  As the walk progresses my precious son and daughter now walk in front of me.  They have passed me.  They are still smiling and moving forward with much anticipation and confidence.  My heart suddenly skips a beat and breaks just a little.  All that I have taught and instilled in them, they will at some point take with them as they leave their need for me and go into the world with determination to accomplish their dreams and their goals.  My shining lights will not need me like I now need them.  Those little hands who have held my hands tight will slowly let go and wave goodbye.  The tears cannot help but fall slowly down my cheeks."  Julie Christensen 10/21/2010
